This weekend marks a major moment in the 2025 GT racing calendar, as Aston Martin’s Vantage GT3 takes on a double challenge across two continents — with action heating up in both the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IMSA).
WEC: São Paulo Hosts High Stakes Showdown
The FIA WEC returns to Interlagos — one of South America’s most iconic circuits — for just the fifth time in its history. Aston Martin has a strong legacy here, with three class wins and four podium finishes, including a runner-up spot in 2024. Now, the British marque is aiming higher with the latest Vantage GT3 competing in the LMGT3 category of the 6 Hours of São Paulo, set for July 13.
Leading the charge is The Heart of Racing (THOR) team, with Ian James (GBR), Zach Robichon (CAN), and Mattia Drudi (ITA) piloting the #27 Vantage. After consistent progress through the season — with finishes ranging from sixth to fourth — a podium finish is well within reach.
Joining them on the grid, Racing Spirit of Léman brings in Anthony McIntosh (USA) to race alongside Eduardo Barrichello (BRA) and Aston Martin works driver Valentin Hasse-Clot (FRA) in the #10 Vantage GT3. McIntosh steps in for Derek De Boer, who is away this round but will return for the Lone Star Le Mans at Circuit of the Americas in September. McIntosh arrives with momentum after a Pro-Am podium at the 24 Hours of Spa and GTD experience in IMSA with van der Steur Racing.

IMSA: Mosport Brings the Fight North
Simultaneously, The Heart of Racing’s IMSA campaign heads to Mosport, Canada for the all-GT round of the series — and it’s a homecoming for Roman De Angelis (CAN). The two-time Mosport GTD class winner teams up with Casper Stevenson (GBR) in the #27 Vantage GT3, who currently sits second in the GTD standings after a dramatic last-minute win at Watkins Glen.
De Angelis steps in for regular driver Gamble, who is competing with Valkyrie at Interlagos, bringing valuable experience to this critical round.
Performance-Driven Legacy Continues
“Aston Martin Vantage GT3 continues to prove its performance pedigree,” said Adam Carter, Head of Endurance Motorsport at Aston Martin. “With recent class wins at the 24 Hours of Spa and a victory in IMSA at Watkins Glen, the car’s pace and durability are unquestionable. In WEC, we’ve shown the potential — now it’s time to deliver results at Interlagos.”
Built on a bonded aluminium chassis and powered by a ferocious twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8, the Vantage GT3 is derived from Aston Martin’s most focused sportscar. In 2025 alone, it has claimed multiple class wins, including at Spa and Nürburgring, and continues to push boundaries in global GT racing.
