Kia is making waves once again in the realm of automotive safety, with three of its latest models securing the highest safety distinction from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for 2025. Under the organization’s most stringent testing standards to date, the Kia K4, EV9, and Telluride have all earned the coveted Top Safety Pick+ rating—demonstrating the brand’s unwavering commitment to passenger protection and technological innovation.
These accolades reflect Kia’s focus on enhancing vehicle safety across the board, from structural engineering improvements to the integration of cutting-edge driver assistance technologies. Notably, the 2025 Kia K4 (built after January 2025), alongside the all-electric EV9 and the rugged Telluride SUV, passed the IIHS’s demanding evaluations, which now place increased emphasis on rear occupant protection and crash performance in low-light conditions.
Speaking on the achievement, Yaser Shabsogh, Vice President of Commercial Operations for Kia Middle East & Africa, emphasized the brand’s ongoing safety mission:
“Recognition from the IIHS under their toughest testing standards highlights the level of engineering and technology we’re putting into our vehicles. Whether it’s enhancing rear passenger safety or preventing nighttime collisions through advanced systems, we remain focused on keeping drivers and passengers protected every step of the way.”
While the award-winning models are specific to the U.S. market, Kia’s global safety philosophy continues to influence the brand’s direction in the Middle East and beyond. Regional variants may differ in specifications, but the same core principles of safety innovation and occupant protection guide Kia’s development worldwide.
With safety taking center stage in Kia’s overall strategy, the company continues to push boundaries—setting new benchmarks for what drivers should expect from modern vehicles. From advanced ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) to rigorous in-house and third-party testing, Kia is reaffirming its position as a brand committed to real-world safety, not just test results.
