I had the chance to attend the BYD Super Hybrid Tech Day held yesterday at The Space DXB, and it was nothing short of impressive. The highlight of the event was the unveiling of BYD’s groundbreaking technologies, from the revolutionary Blade Battery to the all-new DMO Super Hybrid Off-Road Platform. This new platform, designed for hybrid pickups, blends rugged off-road power with SUV-like comfort and efficiency—a true game-changer for drivers in the region.
We also experienced BYD’s commitment to building an ecosystem around sustainability and intelligent mobility. Their fourth-generation DM-i hybrid system stood out for seamlessly combining petrol and electric propulsion, delivering both performance and energy efficiency. Another innovation that caught my attention was the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature, which allows BYD vehicles to act as mobile power stations—perfect for outdoor adventures here in the UAE.
Lucas Bellieud, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility, emphasized how these innovations align with the UAE’s Vision 2030 and Net Zero by 2050 strategies, showcasing BYD’s role in driving the nation’s sustainable future.
What I found most exciting was how BYD isn’t just building cars—it’s creating a holistic approach to mobility, integrating AI, machine learning, and advanced driver-assistance systems to enhance safety, performance, and user experience.
